There’s something extra special about turning 30 — especially when it’s celebrated on the sand with your best friends, golden light, and the soft sounds of the Gulf. This sunset beach picnic photoshoot in St. Petersburg, Florida was everything you’d want for a milestone birthday: cozy, coastal, and full of joy.
I had the honor of photographing a stunning 30th birthday picnic on Indian Rocks Beach beautifully styled by St. Pete Picnic Co.. Despite it being Florida’s rainy season, we were gifted the most incredible sky: dramatic clouds, rain in the distance, and a glowing burst of sunlight right at golden hour. It was the perfect mix of moody and magical.
A Celebration of Friendship & Sunshine
The birthday girl invited her closest friends to join her on the beach for a luxury picnic experience. Think rattan pillows, charcuterie boards, flowing dresses, and lots of laughter. She wanted to remember this milestone not just with portraits of herself — but with individual photos with each of her friends. Every one-on-one moment we captured felt personal, relaxed, and full of love.
Whether they were giggling in the sand, or simply soaking in the ocean breeze, this session was about more than photos — it was about freezing time on a day that truly mattered.

This beach picnic session felt so them — casual, joyful, and just a little luxurious. The clouds added a soft glow to the whole session, and we even got lucky with a golden sunbeam breaking through the storm. It reminded me that sometimes the most beautiful sunsets come right after the rain.
